Presidential Inauguration Hits Close to Home Here in Las Vegas
The 2009 Presidential Inauguration is finally here. Themed “A New Birth of Freedom,” honoring the bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln’s birth, I hope that this is the feeling that comes upon our country this year. I am ready to feel proud of our president, proud of our government and proud of our country. These last few years have just been such a political disappointment.
First of all congrats to the Green Valley High School marching band which was selected to play at the presidential inauguration. What an honor! I can’t imagine the excitement and nervousness they must be feeling.
Congratulations to Rosa Mendoza, a Las Vegas middle school teacher who helped campaign for Obama here in Las Vegas. She and her daughter were invited to ride as special guests on the inaugural train trip from Philadelphia to Washington. Her story was very touching.
The list of celebrities who will be attending and events celebrating Obama’s inauguration is extremely long. This is going to be an inauguration like no other!
And congrats to everyone who is heading up to Washington to show their support for our new president. A special shout out to my Aunt, Uncle and Father-in-Law who are attending! And congratulations to President Obama! We are ready for a Change!
