Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort Reports the Best Conditions of the Season!

Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort35 miles northwest of Las Vegas is Mount Charleston. It is Nevada’s 8th highest mountain peak and is located in the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area. The average annual snowfall is 120 inches a year with over 300 sunny days.

The Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort is located about 17 miles up the mountain at the end of Highway 156. They are open from 9am to 4pm during ski season. You can rent skis, boots, poles, snowboards, bibs or jackets.  They have 11 trails and 4 lifts. The longest run is 3000 feet.  There are also table-top jumps, rails and a 500 foot intermediate half-pipe.  When you are ready to relax, you can stop by the Big Horn Cafe or Bristlecone Bar.

On your way up the mountain, you will pass by the Mount Charleston Lodge. The Lodge has 23 cabins and a lounge that is open nightly until midnight.  It’s located at the end of Highway 157.

The Mount Charleston Hotel is farther down the mountain and only about 30 minutes away from Las Vegas.  It is newer and they recently renovated the guest rooms. There is also a conference room, wedding facilities, a restaurant and a spa.

If your looking for a way to get away from Las Vegas without going too far, Mount Charleston is the perfect spot.  Winter or summer, it’s always about 20 degrees cooler with lots of skiing, hiking and camping.

It’s Time for Bite of Las Vegas!

Bite of Las Vegas by Mix 94.1It’s that time of year again!  Yes, my favorite radio station, Mix 94.1 is hosting its annual Bite of Las Vegas fest on Saturday, October 18th at Desert Breeze Park. A year goes by so fast, seriously, I can’t belive it.

Be prepared for crazy parking, crazy crowds, and crazy good food and music.  They have some awesome bands coming for the $8 admission.  The lineup at the House of Blues main stage is:

12:30 PM Justin Nozuka
1:45 PM MYSTERE by Cirque du Soleil
2:30 PM Lenka
3:45 PM Secondhand Serenade
5:15 PM Metro Station
7:00 PM Puddle Of Mudd
8:30pm Lifehouse

Even I might have to brave the crowds again to check out these bands. :)

The food lineup is also going to be great.  Some of my faves include Famous Dave’s BBQ, Golden Spoon, Gorden Biersch and Zaba’s Mexican Grill.  And the cool thing is you can try everything because the “bites” only cost $1 to $5 each.

Don’t forget to bring a canned food item to recieve $1 off your ticket, plus $1 of each ticket will be donated to the City Mission of Las Vegas.  Have fun!! :)
