United Football League Team is Coming to Las Vegas
I am happy to say Las Vegas is going to give it a shot with another football league. I remember a few years back we had the XFL team, the Las Vegas Outlaws. The one game I had an opportunity to attend was lots of fun. It seemed like Las Vegas was really supportive of the team and it was a bummer that the league folded after one season. But now we have the United Football League.
The first line of the UFL’s Mission Statement is: “To fulfill the unmet needs of football fans in major markets currently underserved by professional football by providing a high quality traditional football league comprised of world class professional football players.” Sounds great to me! Las Vegas is definitely underserved by the NFL.
It is also rumored that Jim Fassel, former coach of the New York Giants, will coach the Las Vegas team. Nice! The other cities potentially in the league are Hartford, Orlando, Salt Lake City, New York, Monterrey, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The teams will be coached by a staff with NFL experience. The games will be held at Sam Boyd Stadium during regular football season on Thursday and Friday nights. The season opener will be in September and the Championship Game will be held in late November.
You can be sure I will keep you updated on this one!
